Projects: Throughout the year we have a variety of projects available such as yard clean-up, painting, decorating for holidays, making toiletry packets, writing thank you notes, and computer inputting.

Gatherings

Most of the food, toiletries, linens and supplies used by the shelter are collected from the general public. This is a fun activity for kids of all ages to organize and execute through their school, church, youth group, neighborhood, or scout troop. Adults too can be involved through their office, business, civic and social organizations.

Refer to the "Needs List" for a comprehensive list of items used at the shelter. This activity gives participants a tremendous sense of accomplishment because of the number of lives they are able to touch with their donations.

Time Commitment: At your convenience - we always have a need for items on the "Needs List"

Available to: Individuals, families and groups of all sizes and ages

You can drop off all donation items to the loading dock of our Siena/Francis House Baright Shelter, located at 1111 North 17th Street.  The loading dock is open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. every day of the year.  The courteous men staffing the dock – all of whom are in our shelter’s job training program – will give you a receipt at the time you make your donation”

Fundraising

As a charitable organization, the Siena/Francis House looks to the generosity of the community for our physical needs as well as for our financial ones. Fundraising can start as simple as children saving their nickels and dimes from a lemonade stand and donating them to our shelter.

Other ideas include:

  • Businesses promoting a Friday “jeans” day, where employees pay a couple of dollars for the privilege of wearing jeans for a day
  • Some businesses allow a percentage of sales on a given day to go toward supporting our program.
  • Schools hold fundraising dances
  • Churches may take up special collections on behalf of our shelter

If you are interested in partnering with Siena Francis House in a fundraising effort, contact Tim Sully

Donating a Vehicle

Do you have an old car, truck, or van that you’re not sure what to do with? You may wish to consider donating it to the Siena/Francis House.

Through this donation, you will provide a “hand up” to a person in our addiction recovery program who is graduating and moving out of the House and onto his or her own. Besides the satisfaction you will get for helping this graduate to become a contributing member of our community, you will also receive a letter of receipt, allowing you to claim a fair market value deduction for this vehicle donation on your taxes. Please call Siena/Francis House Development Director, Tim Sully, at 341-1821 or email him at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have any questions regarding making a vehicle donation.

On behalf of the graduate who will greatly benefit from your donation, thank you, in advance, for your thoughtful consideration.

Monetary Donations

The main source of financial support of the Siena/Francis House is from personal donations from individuals and households in our community. In general, donors make personal charitable contributions to our shelter because they value our mission of providing food, shelter, and clothing to the poorest of our community.

Other donors make more lasting gifts to support the poor and homeless of our community by including the Siena/Francis House in their estates, as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or as a beneficiary of a retirement account. These types of “legacy” gifts go a long way in helping our organization provide food, shelter, and clothing services that so many in our community desperately need.
